Look, it's me!

  • I was born on 19 February 1989 in Bratislava, Slovakia
  • I attended School for Gifted Children at both the primary and high school level
  • During primary school, I played piano, placing in the top 3 in national competitions and 4th in an international competition Amadeus in Brno, Czech Republic
  • I took part in Mathematics Correspondence Seminar, a high school Maths competition, attending a number of camps for the highest-ranking participants
  • Together with Tinka and Mišo, we created school T-shirts and a school magasine, respectively
  • I played ultimate frisbee in high school as well as university. I wasn't very good at it but it was fun :)
  • I studied Genetics at University College London (UCL)
  • I created UCL Maths Challenge, a Maths competition for primary school children inspired by Matboj and Pikopretek. UCL Maths Challenge was awarded Higher Education Volunteering Award 2008 and Abbey '1 UCL' Excellence/Endeavour Award 2008/2009. The latter enabled us to donate £1000 to a charity of our choice; we earmarked this money to Save the Children towards the Rewrite the Future campaign aimed at delivering education to children in armed conflict-affected countries.
  • I have a PhD in Mathematical Biology, also from UCL. I wrote a paper; another paper is in preparation. You can also read my thesis and watch some videos (although they won't make much sense without reading the paper or the thesis).
  • After the PhD, I moved back to Slovakia. I am currently working as a programmer in First Data.
  • I started dancing square and round dance in Karolína; I help organise Unconventional May Special Dance, Karolína's annual event.
  • In 2015, I helped organise the national round of International Junior Science Olympiad and did some of the coaching of the participants in preparation for the international round
